I Got Me A Brand New Box O’ Matches

About This Project

Seeing these pink tipped matches scattered on the floor of a hotel room I caught the inspiration to create this into a seamless pattern for fabrics.

By buying a pack of matches and photoing the spilt matchsticks I then chopped and defined the image to be used in a vector software for pattern making.

The end result is evocative and oddly satisfying.

The tiny wood sticks are sent shattering through the air while the pink tips draw the eye through and inbetween defining them as matches; giving these delicate shaven sticks a sense of power and meaning.
